Each chapter is the memory of someone who had close contact to the man-a wife or daughter or friend, even his lifelong enemy. Review 2: Deepak Chopra tells the life story of the prophet Mohammed and how Islam came to be created.
I might even read Chopra's other books on Buddha and Jesus. Despite the fact, it was still a great read. This is especially true when the author speaks about Jihad. more of Islam, though there could have been more of a distinction between how Islam should be practiced and how it it is perceived. I appreciated the author's writing style as it seemed respectful. This is a great book to read for people that are merely curious and don't want an overload of information. The feelings of the individuals that were portrayed aren't accurate because it is fictionalized as the author mentions in the introduction.
Having the story told from different perspectives in a fictionalized manner made the story easier to comprehend. I didn't know much about Muhammad and the beginnings of Islam before but I think this book provided a good introduction to how Islam came about, not so much what Islam teaches. Religion in general is a touchy subject and no matter how an author discusses it, criticism is bound to appear. Review 1: This is an important book to read for Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
